THIS IS AN EXISTING BUILDING AT THE OLD MAGNOX POWER STATION AT BERKELEY
The site is being de-commisioned and a part of it has been taken over by SGS (South Gloucestershire & Stroud College) who are creating a new Campus here. As this building is near the entrance what better use than to make this a central meeting point for the students and turn it into a cafe. Read on to find out how SGS have done this and our part in helping them achieve it....
Axis were asked by Interserve to help with the refurbishment of the building into a cafe for the new occupants SGS (South Gloucestershire & Stroud College) who are building a state-of-the-art campus providing training in the renewable energy and nuclear sectors by refurbishing an old rig hall and a range of office buildings adjoining the old power station.
Axis were responsible for producing all signage, etched glass windows, menu boards & cut lettering both outside and inside the cafe. Called THE WORKSHOP CAFE AT D31 all the materials reflected the heritage of the old power station complete with klaxons, old clocks & dials plus images of control panels from it’s operating days.
